As a part of an European funding program for the city «Yecla valora» the competition focuses on two actions: enhancement of the southern slope of Cerro del Castillo and a multipurpose centre for the neighbourhood.
The action on the slope is based in marking paths and routes adapted to potential users (hikers, cyclists, neighbours) and in placing some specific elements that will provide tourist, sports and leisure services. All under the criteria of sustainability and reversibility.
In the second action, a multipurpose centre for the neighbourhood of the Molineta is proposed. The building stands as an abstract volume open to the forest, sits on the parcel boundary making unnecessary the clearing of the adjacent forest. The volume maintains a similar scale as the homes in the area. A vegetable slope next to the road reduces its presence, keeping the current appearance of the walk, with scattered buildings and trees.
The building is equipped with various strategies of sustainability: protecting the south side that faces the sun, solar chimneys and Canadians pipes to reduce the cost of air conditioning and rainwater collection cistern.
The varied program for educational, recreational and cultural uses is resolved with a completely flexible ground floor and a first floor auditory, offices and classrooms.
